boohoo would not have met its ESG criteria says Earth Capital boss Gordon Power

Gordon Power, the boss of specialist sustainable investor Earth Capital says boohoo would not have passed the ESG checks required to become part of its portfolio. To be considered for the US$1.6bn fund, companies undergo thirty checks on all areas from natural resources, eco systems, pollution, social and governance issues. Those with a positive score are accepted but others given guidance on how they can improve. Power says it is such stringency that has been behind its strong record, adding that COVID-19 has only highlighted the need for strong ESG compliance and believes companies with it perform better. Earth Capital is a global business, he adds, that invests in areas such as climate change, energy food and water, and infrastructure development.
